Tazorac Gel is a prescription medicine used to treat the symptoms of acne vulgaris and psoriasis. It helps skin cells renew faster, which might help with the appearance and texture of the skin. Tazorac Gel may be used alone or with other medications.
It is recommended to use Tazorac gel only as directed. Please do not use more of it, do not use it more often, and do not use it for a longer time than your doctor ordered. To do so may cause your skin to be irritated. You may need to use Tazorac gel for several weeks or months before your skin starts to look better.
Please do not use it on skin areas that have cuts or scrapes. If it does get on these areas, rinse it off right away.
To use the Tazorac gel:
Before taking Tazorac Gel, tell your doctor and pharmacist:
It would be best if you started using Tazorac Gel during your menstrual period to be sure you are not pregnant.
Plan to avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to real and artificial sunlight and wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher, especially if you sunburn easily. Also, avoid prolonged exposure to cold or wind.
Do not use hot wax or electrolysis to remove unwanted hair from the area you are treating with tazarotene during your treatment with Tazorac Gel.
Itching, redness, irritation, burning/stinging, scaling, dry skin, or pain at the application site may occur. Tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly if any of these effects last or get worse. Or if you have any serious side effects, including severe redness/irritation/peeling.
This is not a complete list of possible side effects. Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you notice other effects not listed above.
