Anoro Ellipta is an inhalation powder containing a combination of umeclidinium and vilanterol. Umeclidinium and vilanterol both work by relaxing muscles in the airways to improve breathing.
Anoro Ellipta is used to prevent airflow obstruction and reduce flare-ups in adults with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), including bronchitis and emphysema.
Anoro Ellipta is for use only in people with COPD and should not be used to treat asthma.
Use Anoro exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides.
Anoro Ellipta is not a rescue medicine for bronchospasm attacks. Use only fast-acting inhalation medicine for an attack. Seek medical attention if your breathing problems get worse quickly, or if you think your medications are not working as well.
Read and carefully follow any Instructions for Use provided with your medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you do not understand these instructions.
The usual dose of this medicine is 1 inhalation per day. Use the medicine at the same time each day, and not more than once in a 24-hour period.
Anoro is a powder that comes with a special Ellipta inhaler device preloaded with blister packs containing measured doses of the medicine. The Ellipta device opens and loads a blister of Anoro each time you use the inhaler. Follow the patient instructions provided with the inhaler device.
It is very important that your doctor check your progress at regular visits to make sure this medicine is working properly. Blood and urine tests may be needed to check for any unwanted effects.
Tell your doctor if you are also using any other medicine for your COPD. Your doctor may want you to use it only during a severe COPD attack. Follow your doctor's instructions on how you should take your medicine.
This medicine should not be used if you are having a severe COPD attack, or if symptoms of a COPD attack has already started. Your doctor may prescribe another medicine for you to use in case of an acute COPD attack. If the other medicine does not work as well, tell your doctor right away.
This medicine may increase the risk of worsening asthma, which may lead to hospitalization, intubation, and death in patients with asthma who take this medicine without an inhaled steroid medicine. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns about this.
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Anoro Ellipta: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have:
Wheezing, choking, or other breathing problems after using this medicine;
Painful or difficult urination, or urinating more often;
Blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain or redness, or seeing halos around lights;
High blood sugar - increased thirst or urination, hunger, dry mouth, fruity breath odor; or
Low potassium level - leg cramps, constipation, irregular heartbeats, fluttering in your chest, numbness or tingling, muscle weakness or limp feeling.
What is this medicine?
Anoro Ellipta (Umeclidinium / Vilanterol) inhalation is a combination of two medicines that decrease inflammation and help to open up the airways of your lungs. It is for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis or emphysema. Do NOT use for asthma or an acute asthma attack. Do NOT use for a COPD attack.
What if I miss a dose?
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, use only that dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not use double or extra doses.
Where should I keep my medicine?
Keep out of the reach of children.
Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Store in a dry place away from direct heat or sunlight. Throw away 6 weeks after you remove the inhaler from the foil tray, or after the dose indicator reads 0, whichever comes first. Throw away any unopened packages after the expiration date.
